Shore Excursions

Explore Bruges in Style, between gangway and boarding call

Your ship docks in Zeebrugge, not Bruges, roughly 15 kilometres away. That means a fixed number of hours ashore and a hard deadline to be back on board. A private guide who lives in Bruges and plans your day around your ship's schedule turns that pressure into one of the best days of your cruise.

Why book a private shore excursion

Built around your ship's deadline. We plan the route, the pace and the return trip around your boarding time, with a real safety buffer, not a fixed schedule shared with forty other passengers.

No waiting on a group. Coach excursions move at the pace of the slowest passenger and lose time to headcounts and boarding. A private tour is just your group, moving at your pace, from the first stop to the last.

A local guide, not a script. Your guide lives in Bruges. The history, the shortcuts, and the judgment about what's worth your limited time come from someone who knows the city, not a rehearsed route.

Any group size. From a couple to a full cabin group, private tours run from 1 to 20 people, always private, never combined with strangers.

What you need to know

Getting from the port to Bruges. Cruise berths sit in Zeebrugge's outer harbour. Every cruise line runs a shuttle from the gangway to the terminal gates first; from there, Bruges is about a 20 to 30 minute drive, or reachable by train via Zeebrugge-Dorp station.

Meeting point. We meet you in Bruges city centre once you've cleared the port shuttle. Let us know your arrival details when you book.

Time ashore. Most passengers have 6 to 10 hours ashore, depending on the ship. Even 3 to 4 hours in Bruges is enough for a proper walking tour. With more time, a cycling tour or culinary walk fits comfortably.

Group size. 1 to 20 people, always private.

Languages. English and Dutch.

FAQ

1. How much time do we need in Bruges for it to be worth leaving the ship?

Even 3 to 4 hours is enough for a private walking tour covering the historic centre. With 6 hours or more, a cycling tour or culinary walk fits as well.

2. Will we get back to the ship on time?

Yes. We build every shore excursion around your ship's boarding deadline, with a return buffer planned in from the start.

3. Do we need transport once we're in Bruges?

No. The historic centre is compact and walkable, and everything on our tour routes is on foot.

4. Can the tour be tailored to our exact hours ashore?

Yes. Tell us your ship's boarding deadline when you book, and we'll build the route and the pace around it.

5. Is this better than the coach excursion offered by our cruise line?

For a group of four or more, a private tour with Crusade often costs about the same per person as a coach excursion, but with a guide, a pace and a route built around your group specifically, not a bus full of strangers. .
